Spectacular Tower Bridge finish for the RideLondon-Essex 100

London’s Tower Bridge will be the stunning new Finish Line for the 2022 RideLondon-Essex 100

For the first time since the original RideLondon event was held in 2013, the 100-mile cycling challenge will finish at iconic Tower Bridge when it returns on Sunday 29 May 2022 – taking in a brand new course along the way.

Open to novice and seasoned riders alike, the inaugural RideLondon-Essex 100 is an unmissable breath of fresh air in the sportive calendar.

Stunning new route

From the central London Start Line at Victoria Embankment, the RideLondon-Essex 100 route will head out into 65 miles of glorious Essex countryside before returning to London and the all-important Finish Line at Tower Bridge. The full route, suitable for all, will be announced in February 2022.

Hugh Brasher, Event Director of RideLondon, said: “Tower Bridge is one of the most famous landmarks of London and will provide a truly spectacular and memorable finish for everyone taking part in the RideLondon-Essex 100.

“This will be the finale of a fantastic new route which I am sure will excite participants and which has only been made possible thanks to the commitment of the Mayor of London’s office and key stakeholders such as Transport for London, the City of London Corporation, and Tower Hamlets and Westminster councils. We thank them all for their continued support.”

A cycling event for all

Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, praised the new cycling event: “The new RideLondon-Essex 100 route is a great challenge for people wanting to take part in a cycling event, with an exciting new partnership with Essex County Council.

“I'm so pleased we've been able to bring back the event for 2022, and it's really exciting that cyclists will get to end their 100-mile ride at the world-famous landmark of Tower Bridge.”

What's new for 2022?

The new-look RideLondon-Essex 100 is one of several changes to RideLondon, the world’s greatest festival of cycling, which returns in 2022 after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.

The changes include a new date of 29 May 2022, a new partnership with Essex County Council and a three-day UCI Women’s WorldTour race (27 May to 29 May 2022).

The 2022 event will also feature the RideLondon FreeCycle and family-oriented 30- and 60-mile rides on traffic-free roads, with festival sites set up along the routes. Watch this space for more details over the coming months!
