Cycle Champion Applications are now open for Teachers in London and Essex

Teachers across schools in London and Essex have the opportunity to become a Cycling Champion at the 2024 Ford RideLondon-Essex events.

On Sunday 26 May, thousands of participants will take part in the world’s greatest festival of cycling, as Ford RideLondon-Essex offers a unique chance for cyclists of all abilities to enjoy a ride on traffic-free roads in London and Essex, across a distance of 100, 60, or 30 miles.

Individuals at schools and educational settings across London and Essex can apply for Cycling Champion places, in any of the distances. Entrants will need to share their reasons for wanting a place in the Ford RideLondon-Essex events as part of their application. This includes how participating will help to inspire active travel and cycling in their school/setting.

The Ford RideLondon-Essex 100 starts in Central London and then travels east through Westminster, the City of London, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forest and Redbridge before heading out into Essex via Epping Forest.

This circuit of Essex takes in some of the county’s most picturesque towns, villages and countryside, including the historic market towns of Epping, Ongar and Great Dunmow. It also takes in part of the 2014 Tour de France route, passing Felsted and Chelmsford before returning to the capital and a spectacular finish in Central London.

To be in with a chance of securing one of the sought-after places, please complete the application form here.
The application window runs from 22 November to 15 December. Winners will be notified the week commencing 18 December.

Schools in London and Essex can also secure a limited number of reduced entry fee spots through London Marathon Events’ School and Community programme. For full information email Layla Hall, Schools Engagement Manager at London Marathon Events, at layla.hall@londonmarathonevents.co.uk
